Undergraduate (B. E.) Admission: Eligibility

Note: All Eligibility Criteria for Admission are as per DTE Rules.

  • 65% admission by Central Allotment Process (CAP) of Government of Maharashtra through CET MAIN 2016-17.
  • 15%admission by Central Allotment Process (CAP) of Government ofMaharashtra through JEE/CET MAIN 2016-17 for MS/OMS candidate.
  • 20% admission for institute level quota.
  • Candidate should have passed HSC (Std. XII) examination of Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education or its equivalent examination with subjects English, Physics, Mathematics are compulsary and optional subjects are Chemistry / Biology / Biotechnology & Technical Vocational. Choose any one from optional subjectand secured a minimum of 50% marks (45% in case of Backward Class candidates). For Biotechnology course, Biology is essential. For Maharashtra State seats through CAP, a ranking in JEE MAIN as declared by the government is essential. Institution level quota seats are filled up by due counseling as per merit basis.
  • GOI nominee and J & K migrant have a quota of one seat in each department. They have to apply to Directorate of Technical Education, Maharashtra State for release of seats.

(A) Eligibility for 2016-17 (F.Y./DSE/M.E./M.B.A) -

1. Maharashtra State Candidature Candidate.
  • The candidate should be an Indian National.
  • Passed HSC or its equivalent examination with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with one of the Chemistry or Biotechnology or Biology or Technical or Vocational subjects and obtained at least 50% marks (at least 45% marks, in case of Backward class categories and Persons with Disability candidates belonging to Maharashtra State only) in the above subjects taken together;

or

Passed Diploma in Engineering and Technology and obtained at least 50% marks (at least 45% marks, in case of Backward class categories and Persons with Disability candidates belonging to Maharashtra State only);

or

Passed B.Sc. Degree from a Recognized University as defined by UGC and obtained at least 50% marks (at least 45% marks, in case of Backward class categories and Persons with Disability candidates belonging to Maharashtra State only);

  • Obtained score in CET conducted by the Competent Authority.
2. All India Candidature Candidates, Jammu and Kashmir Migrant Candidature Candidates-
  • The candidate should be an Indian National;
  • Passed HSC or its equivalent examination with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with one of the Chemistry or Biotechnology or Biology or Technical or Vocational subjects and obtained at least 50% marks (at least 45% marks, in case of Backward class categories and Persons with Disability candidates belonging to Maharashtra State only) in the above subjects taken together;

or

Passed Diploma in Engineering and Technology and obtained at least 50% marks (at least 45% marks, in case of Backward class categories and Persons with Disability candidates belonging to Maharashtra State only);

or

Passed B.Sc. Degree from a Recognized University as defined by University Grants Commission and obtained at least 50% marks (at least 45% marks, in case of Backward class categories and Persons with Disability candidates belonging to Maharashtra State only);

  • Obtained score in CET or JEE Main paper I.

(B) Direct Second Year (Lateral Entry) -

1. State Candidature Candidate and All India Candidature Candidates -
  • The Candidate should be an Indian National.
  • Passed Diploma Course in Engineering and Technology with at least 45% marks (40% marks in case of candidates of Backward class categories and Persons with Disability belonging to Maharashtra State only) in appropriate branch of Engineering and Technology from an All India Council for Technical Education or Central or State Government approved Institution or its equivalent.

or

Passed B.Sc. Degree from a University Grants Commission (UGC) or Association of Indian Universities recognized University with at least 45% marks (40% in case of Candidates of Backward class categories and Persons with Disability belonging toMaharashtra State only) and passed HSC with Mathematics as a subject provided that Students belonging to this category shall clear the subjects of Engineering Graphics /Engineering Drawing and Engineering Mechanics of the first year Engineering ProgramAlong with second year subjects.

  • Any other criterion declared by appropriate authority from time to time.

Reservation for backward class category candidates:

The percentage of seats reserved for candidates of backward class categories belonging to Maharashtra State is as per the details in table given below. The percentages of reservation are the percentages of the seats available for Maharashtra candidates, which are coming under the purview of the Competent Authority (Refer notes 1-5 given below for details). These are the minimum percentages of reservation exclusive of the backward class candidates securing allotment through General Merit by virtue of merit. Backward class candidates shall claim the category to which they belong to at the time of submission of application form for Centralized Admission.

Reservation for sons/daughters of Defence service personnel:

Five (5) % seats of the total sanctioned intake for an institute, subject to a maximum of five (5) seats in each institute coming under CAP shall be reserved for

  • Children of ex-service personnel who are domiciled in Maharashtra State (DEF-1)
  • Children of active service personnel who are domiciled in Maharashtra State (DEF-2)
  • Children of active service personnel (DEF-3)
  • Who are transferred to Maharashtra State but are not domiciled in Maharashtra State,
  • Who are not domiciled in Maharashtra State but their families are stationed in Maharashtra State under the provision of retention of family accommodation at the last duty station on grounds of children’s education provided further that, such candidate should have appeared and passed the HSC (Std. XII) examination of Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education or its equivalent examination from a school/college situate in the State of Maharashtra.

These seats are within the sanctioned intake capacity and are available as State Level seats. A combined single merit list of all eligible DEF1, DEF2 & DEF3 candidates shall be prepared. Admission against the Defence category seats will be made strictly on the basis of inter-se-merit combined single merit list of all eligible DEF1, DEF2 & DEF3 candidates. Refer Proforma C, D and E for claiming this provision.

Note: This provision is NOT available to the children of CIVILIAN STAFF who is working / who has worked in the Indian Defence Service.

Reservation for Persons with Disability Candidates:

As per the provisions in Clause 39 of Equal Opportunities, Protection of Rights and Full Participation Act 1995, three percent (3%) seats of tatal sanctioned intake capacity of all the institutions coming under CAP shall be reserved for Persons with Disability candidates.

  • 1% seats for Visually impaired (blind) candidates (P1)
  • 1% seats for Speech & hearing impaired (deaf & dumb) candidates, (P2)
  • 1% seats for Orthopedic disorders, learning disabilities, Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, Dysgraphica, Spastic (P3)

Allotment of the seats reserved for the Persons with Disability candidates shall be done on the basis of an inter-se-merit of respective type of handicap of such candidates. These seats are available in HU / SL seats for Maharashtra Type – A, B and D only.

Documents Checklist for Engineering Degree Course Admission

Candidate should be an Indian National and should have passed the HSC (Std.XII) examination of Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education or its equivalent examination with subjects English, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics AND Secured minimum 45% marks i.e. not less than 135 marks out of 300 marks (minimum 40% marks i.e. not less than 120 marks out of 300 marks in case of candidates of Backward class categories belonging only to Maharashtra State) in the subjects Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics added together. Eligible candidates from states other than Maharashtra can apply under "payment seats" category. NRI candidates can also apply under this category.

Documents needed: (Original Copy)

  • Medical certificate of Physical fitness
  • Certificate of Indian Nationality
  • Certificate of passing the qualifying examinations and other examinations, if any for which additional credit is given, with the statement of marks.
  • Certificate of Date of Birth, if it is not mentioned in the school or institute Leaving certificate
  • Certificate in the prescribed form from the competent authorities of belonging to the Backward Class, if the candidate claims to belong the Backward Class.
  • Appropriate certificate as specified by government in support of qualifications claiming weightage, concession and/ or for qualification on the basis of which relative merit will be reserved.
  • Domicile certificate of the father/ mother where and as applicable.
  • Requisite certificate from the competent Authorities in the case of candidates claiming to be the children of Armed forces personal transferred to Maharashtra state together with transfer order of father.
  • Transfer order in the case of children of Central government.
  • Certificate in the case of candidate claiming to be son/ daughter of freedom fighter, or his wife or child or adopted child or step child, or grand child (child of predeceased son of freedom fighter).
  • Prescribed certificate of being physically handicapped (if any)
  • Prescribed certificate of participation in Inter-institutional sports, Games, debates, elections, Drama competitions.

Admission against vacant seats likely to fall after CAP and Institute Level Quota:

For Vacant Seats and Institute Level Quota in branches of Civil, Chemical, Electrical, Electronics & Telecommunication, Computers, Information Technology (IT), Bio-technology and Mechanical Engineering. Eligible and desirous students should contact the office of the Principal. The requisite Fees, Hostel Fees (If required) and University Fees should be paid at the time of admission.

Direct Second Year Admission:

Eligibility for Admission:

The candidate should have passed in first class /first class with condonation, post SSC or post HSC diploma course in Engineering/Technology of the Maharashtra State Board of Technical Education (MSBTE)

OR

of any other recognized diploma in India equivalent to the diploma awarded by the Maharashtra State Board of Technical Education (MSBTE) with English as the medium of instruction at diploma level.

OR

of any other AICTE approved institution which has been granted academic autonomy by the Government of Maharashtra or University in the State of Maharashtra.
